Deep in the heart of South Philadelphia the Bencardino Crew is working on a complex but highly rewarding project. At the Intersection of Board and Morris Bencardino Excavating is assisting with the development of the new Childrens Hospital of Philadelphias health center. The new center will service both children and adults for everyday medical concerns. It will go far in bridging a health service gap found in this part of the city. But this project comes with unique challenges. Because of its location the work site is very tight, making it harder to operate freely. Tighter working conditions means our workers must be more attentive and every issue such as soil removal takes extra time and effort. The soil in this area is poor so the Bencardino crew needs to dig deeper than normal to place secure pylons to support the building. Adding to the stress is the work schedule so, far we are six weeks into the project with a target deadline of early December so our crews and partners must work effectively with little room for error. On top of the stabilization pylons Bencardino Excavating must prep for the plumber’s pipes and lay the pad for the building, but we’re are up to the task. Chris Cannon is serving as the lead foreman and Perryman Building is the primary contractor.
